Well the end of the academic year fast approaches us here in the world of Rock Soc so it's time for us to tell you about all the events we have going on.

This Wednesday (the 27th) is the penultimate social of the year where you will be able to sign up for all the upcoming events.

This Friday our Assault dj's Dan and Manga are relaunching their club night Nook and Cranny at the Paris nightclub (formerly Geisha) in the Lace Market.  It runs from 9.30pm until 2am and is free for anyone with a Rock Soc card to get in.

This Saturday the 30th is our final clubbing trip of the year.  We're going back to Redeemer in Leicester.  It costs £3 for the coach and it's £2.50 for club entry with a Rock Soc card.  We will be leaving at 9pm from the Glo Bar and returning at 3am.

Next Wednesday the 3rd of June is the final social of the year which you should all come too.

On Friday the 5th of June we have the final Assault of the year.  Starting with Mike from Magenta's band XPD, Nottingham comedy black metal legends Evil Scarecrow and a rather good industrial band called Uberbyte playing for us beforehand.  After that we've got three rooms of music for you all until 3am and a bouncy castle, plus a few other surprises.  Remember bring your friends, bring your enemies and bring your mum!

On Sunday is the epic end of year BBQ hosted by UoN RockSoc.  There's free food and beer provided as well as random games such as bulldog etc.  If you're interested in more details head to the forum or facebook.

On Monday the 8th of June we're holding a join trip to Alton Towers with our commrades at UoN Rock Soc.  It's £12 all in for transport and park entry.  You can pay me for this at any of the events listed so far.  Departure time is currently tbc it should be known by tomorrow evening at the latest though.

The final event of this year is our annual Formal Ball which is a great excuse for you all to get dressed up smartly.  This year we're holding it upstairs at Cape (30 seconds away from the Pit and Pendulum) we're charging £5 for tickets and it's £6 for entry on the night.  We will be providing music, a buffet, awards and general fun plus the handover of power to the new committee.  This is a great way to see the year out and I recommend that you all come to this too :) .  You can buy formal tickets from me at any of the events listed here too.


A lot has been happening in the world of Rock Soc lately so we thought we would keep you all up to date.

The new merch order is now in and you will be able to collect in from about 5 onwards at the social today.

The date for our Clifton Assault has been changed to Friday the 8th of May and I can now confirm in addition to that we will be providing minibus transport for those of you who are city based to make it easier for you guys to get to the event and home again. 

Our massive end of year Assault has had to be pushed back a week to the 5th of June.  More details will follow on this soon as a lot of stuff is needing to be rearranged very last minute now.

Finally there will be a poll appearing on the forum very soon to decide the destination of the final clubbing trip of the academic year.  So if you want your say get over there and vote.

For those of you who weren't at the last social of term the date for this years elections and AGM has been confirmed as the 29th of April.  If you would like to nominate yourself for any position you may do so at any event to a member of the commitee, on the forum in the AGM thread or by emailing us at nturocksoc@hotmail.co.uk .  Let the games begin.

This week at the social i'm calling a general meeting of the society as I need you all to vote on a proposed change for next years exec.  If you want to know what it will be you'll need to turn up though i'm afraid :p

The time for a Crusade is upon us once more

For those unsure, we'll be heading to the Point on Clifton Campus to visit our Clifton bretheren *cough*, for a night of cheap drinks from "The Exchange" (read: Bar FooTSiE)

Usual stuff: Speakeasy at 7, 7:15 bus to Clifton, bus card or £3.00 will get you there and back.

This will be the last RockSoc event of this term, so what is there to loose?

Next Tuesday we will be holding an end of term Assault Versus Piracy at SEVEN starting at 9.30pm.  Entry is £1 all night.  More info can be seen below.

The trip this Saturday to Redeemer in Leicester will now be departing from the GloBar at 9PM and returning at 3AM.  Please be aware of this time change.

This week we have not 1, not 2 but 3 Rock Soc events to announce to you all.

On the 25th of Feb at 8pm we are going for two games of Bowling at AMF bowling.  There are 18 places available for this and its costs £4 a head.  You can sign up on the forum or in person at one of the meetings.

On the 7th of March we are holding a joint trip with UoN to Redeemer in Leicester.  It's £3 for the coach and £2.50 for club entry.  There are 34 spaces available for this and we will be leaving from the GloBar at 8pm.  We will also be doing pick up/drop offs for our Nottingham counterparts.  As before you can sign up on the forum or at the meeting.

Finally on March 11th there is a Trent Versus Nottingham Lazer Quest game.  It starts at 8pm and runs for 1 hour.  There are 17 places on our team and it costs a mere £2.  You can also sign up for this in person or on the forum.

This Friday we will be holding a Vaguely Valentines Assault, as usual at the Glo Bar from 9.30pm until 2am details can be found on the forum as well as requests.

On Valentines Day, we are coaching off to a special alternative/formal dress Subversion hosted by the Loughborough Rock Soc. We've a 68 seater coach booked, to share with the University of Nottingham Rock Soc (and possibly Brackenhurst Rock Soc). It'll give you a chance to get to know the other Rock Societies. We're charging £2 for the coach, with a £1.50 entry into the club on the night. We'll be leaving outside the glo-bar at 8pm (be there early), and will leave Loughborough at 2.30am. So get dressed up in your alternative or formal gear, and tag along! If you're interested, please come to one of our Wednesday socials to put your name down, or do so on the forum here!

Unfortunatly due to circumstances beyond my control (i.e. the football match on tomorrow) I have just been informed that the Speak Easy will be closing at 6pm tomorrow meaning that there will be very little scope for having a Rock Soc meeting in there. Im going to be there from just after 5 hopefuly and I intend to do the annoucements at about 5.45. After which I'm intending to probably move on to the Pit if anyone is wanting to pay me for trips etc.
On Saturday the 7th of Febuary, we'll be heading to the Corp., leaving outside the glo bar at 8pm and returning at 2.30am. It is £2 to secure you a place on the coach, and £2 into the club with a valid Rocksoc membership card. There are roughly 13 places left; to secure yourself a place, please come to the Social on Wednesday in the Speasy, to pay!

  Since people are turning up later and later to the socials we will be officially starting at 6 from now on with the announcements at about 7.  Djing will take place as normal the only difference is that the exec will be getting there a little later than previously.
