Sorry i didn't send this out last night, but by the time i'd finished running around like a headless chicken the rooster was starting to crow and i needed to traverse notts to get to uni. So, my lovelies, here's what we have in stall for you this week in the glorious world of rocksoc!

Our weekly meeting this week is a SPECIAL* window licking one! for the lucky few who managed to collar a member of the exec, we're running a trip to LaserQuest in Hockley, but DONT PANIC, if you missed out on this epic chance, we're running a second one right at the beginning of term 3! and priority will go to those unlucky enough to miss out, so it's win win ^_^ So, here's the plan....turn up UPSTAIRS at the SAL BEFORE 7:30, ideally around 6 for announcements, merryment and general malarky, we'll be leaving at 7:30, taking you straight as the crow flies (low along streets, we can't actually make you fly over buildings just yet, sorry, but we're just not that epic!....yet :P) to get to the LaserQuest and start shooting up the place with in phase, coherent photons of light (end of science nerdery) for 8pm. Afterwards, we WILL be heading to the PIT for after shoot em up drinks!

Next we have the Glorius ASSAULT on Friday, at Trent SU PULSE Bar, with a slight twist to this one, You will find the USUAL SUSPECTS in the dj booths, though a few new faces too. We're running this one joint with UoN Rocksoc. Doors are, as per usual, 9:30pm sharp! and it'll only cost you LOVELY people £2 before 11, £3 afterwards. Lasting till 2am! if you want to make requests, then please feel free to browse our forums at www.ntu.rocksoc.com/forums and make them on the appropriate thread!Requests can and will be made on the night too!

Leading on from THIS, the following dates for ASSAULT are for term 3:

Good evening fellow rock folk,

Just letting you know what's happening in the world of rocksoc, via the interweb deally which is facelife.
The wednesday meeting @ the sal, starts at the usual time of 6pm. This week sees Rocksoc Mastermind. It should be a bit of a laugh, and kicks off at 7:00pm.

Assault is this Friday (29th). Come along, make merry and get on the floor till your hearts content. 9:30 kickoff, 2:00 kickout. This week the niche set will be Southern/Desert Rock.

Wednesday the 3rd we're running a pool tournament in the Sal. We need 16 people to signup* It'll cost 50p to enter and you can win a prize. You can sign up this week if your interested.
*spaces are limited to a first come first serve basis.

Finally a reminder that we still have spaces on the Eddies trip taking place on 20th of February.

Just a quick message letting you all know what's going on with the rocksoc with regards to the future.
First off, suppose we'd better go through chronologically,
This wednesday (20th Jan) will be Risk Risk at our weekly meeting run by our very own General Commander Julian. If you don't know the rules or are a veteran player, come along and have a go, rules will be explained...oh and everytime you take a shot at a players defences you take a shot, provided by us ;P (*may limit to 2 or 3 per group per N attacks :P) it'll be all explained on the night. *(Also Prizes will be given out for the winning team)

The Wednesday meeting after (27th Jan) will be the Rocksoc MasterMind. If you fancy giving it a go, then please grab a commitee member at the meeting on wednesday (20th) with a specialist subject. Deadline for entrants is this friday (22nd). You can also sign up on the forum thread.

Friday 29th Will be the 2nd Assault of the Year 2010. Come along for awesome fun, awsome music and quite frankly okish drinks :P We'll hopefully have drinks prices sorted and printed on flyers around the Pulse bar so if they charge extra you can facepalm their heads into the bar *disclaimer: please don't facepalm their heads into the bar, we'd prefer it if you just found an exec member too shout at the bar staff for you*
NB: If anyone is seen taking/carrying/selling/painting with/using to create a macaroni picture with drugs they will be thrown out and banned from future Assaults and the police may have to get involved at the discression of the SU management. You have been warned!

Finally the BIG TRIP (well EPIC if not big). We're leaving Nottingham on the night of 20th Feb, to cause havock and run amock in a ordered and structured fashion with the bearded ginger one as our lead to the not so fair city of Birmingham, though i hear they have lovely summers. That's right, we're off to EDDIES ROCK BAR! ^_^ we'll be signing people up to this on the wednesday (20th jan) meeting. and yes, this is an attempt to give you lovely people plently of notice and bucking the trend of 2 days notice :P Oh, and I've been told by the powers that be, that priority of this Crusading adventure of epicness will be given to those who sign up and come along to the meeting!

Hey up guys.
The end of term fast approaches, and with it the welcome break from uni, but we aren't quite done yet.

This Wednesday we're upstairs in The Sal, for our CD swap fest and party games. We hope you've been burning some tasty music onto disc to bring along and trade for others' submissions. There will be music provided by Jack and Terri (and possibly someone else, I forget), there will be a twister competition, and there will be Hungry, hungry Hippos. Come along, make merry and buy a T-shirt.

Sadly this merks the end of the First semesters antics from the RockSoc. After Christmas we will be back on Wednesday the 13th of January with another meeting, filled with some such antic or other. We will keep you posted.

Also chalked up for the near future are trips, to Eddies in Birmingingham, and the Wendyhouse in Leeds. Las(z)er quest, bowling, ice skating and if you all behave yourselves, a cheap* paintballing trip.

Have fun celebrating the birth of an Anti-materialistic Jew by buying a crapton of presents for your family. We'll see you on the 13th.

The Exec

Right My lovely Rocksocers, a bit of news about this week and the dealings we will be venturing towards.

Firstly our meeting will be on wednesday (9th) at the sal at the usual time of 6ish, with a slight change....we will be leaving the sal and heading over to the newly opened central bar (near to Oceana) for the annual rocksoc christmas party hosted by UoN Rocksoc around half 7, getting to the venue around 8ish. From what I hear the prices are £3 for members, £4 for non-members. The night will feature 3 rooms - 2 rooms of clubnight and a third chillout room. The evening will be kicking off with 3 bands before beginning the clubnight, although there will be an alternative club room for anyone who doesn't feel like checking out the bands.

Just a Reminder This friday (11th) is the final assault of the term and to get in the festive mood it's going to be the Christmas Assault, with presents and Satans Grotto. as per usual requests can be made on the forum. prices are, £2 before 11pm and £3 after.

Sorry it's been a while since we updated this, though I am pleased to see so many members joining in with the debauchery and fun that is rocksoc ^_^

Thought I'd stop by and tell you lovely people what's going on this week. On Wednesday we're having a special meeting down in the caves beneath the Sal. we'll be meeting people in the usual places around the pub to take you down if you don't know where they are. After this we intend to have a Real Ale and Cider pub tour around nottingham, taking people to pubs they might not know about or usually venture into alone. At each pub there will be a designated suggested drink to try.

On Friday the 27th we have Indecent Assault. Basically it's the one Assault of the year the Dj's are allowed off their chains, and can play what they like regardless of genre boundries. In the past these have always been welcomed with anticipation! You can go to the forum to request songs. doors are as ever at 9:30pm and it's £2 before 11 and £3 after. Open to the general public too ^_^

Saturday 28th is the trip to Redeemer, where our resident Assault DJ Spike spends his saturday nights playing to the masses. This Trip is run by UoN rocksoc, but we can tag along, if you'd like to come, please post on the relevant thread. =)

Wednesday 2nd Dec, We're back upstairs at the Sal, and you lucky devils, we're having a RockSoc Quiz with intergrated Cd Swap, more info to follow...

Some updates to the remaining Freshers week events.

TONIGHT (Saturday 17th)
Freshers party at Shread's house, 6:30pm.
Meeting at The Pulse at 6:00pm to find the way.
After party trip to Rock City.

SUNDAY 18th
Cheap Food!
The Pulse, 2:00pm

MONDAY 19th
Rocksoc go Bowling. 9:00pm.
Meeting at the Sal at 8:00pm, and at The Point in Clifton at 7:00pm.
Places are limited. Come to the Saturday or Sunday Event to sign up.

Tuesday 20th
Laserquest. Come and shoot your friends at 6:40pm.
Meet in the Sal at 6:00pm.
Once again, places are limited. Sign up at the Saturday/Sunday events.

Wednesday 21st
2nd Meeting in the Sal at 6:00pm.
The end to Freshers week festivites, but worry not. We have a lot of things planned for the rest of the term.

As the only rite of passage into rocksoc for the newcomers approaches, we'd thought we'd warn you what to expect in way of carnage, injury and in all likely hood drunken abuse, enjoy


Wednesday 14th -Meet and Greet + first meeting (@ the Sal)
We'll be opening the upstairs of the Sal at 5pm, actual announcements and stuff will happen around 6. You can sign up to bowling/laserquest at this meeting and buy one of our lovely new t-shirts for £9. Dale and Julian (for freshers they'll be wearing a bright pink and a dark red top with the logo on) meeting people in the point on clifton campus at 4pm (getting the unilink bus to town), and me + other members of the exec will be meeting people outside the City SU at 5pm to take them to the Sal.

Thursday 15th - 2nd meet and Greet + Pub crawl ending in Rock City (2uned)
pretty much the same as above, only we'll be heading off on a pub crawl around the city ending up at rock city. There will also be a buffet with free food. meeting people in the Sal (downstairs). Again, there will be pre-meets at the City SU (8pm) and at Clifton (7pm).

Friday 16th - First Assault all the Academic Year
Assault is our clubnight at the City SU, run by and dj'd by us over two rooms of metal, punk and rock. This Promises to be a fantastic night! Pre-meets will be at 6pm on clifton at the point. Doors open at 9:30pm and costs £2 before 11pm and £3 after.

Saturday 17th -Freshers party+ barcrawl ending at Rock City (heyheyhey)
Tradition dictates that the freshers party is usually held on the first saturday of the alt freshers week at the fresher reps house. So pretty much what it says on the tin. BYOB, we'll post the address and pre-meets closer the time, and will be kicking off the party around 9, this will be ending in rock city for the saturday clubnight heyheyhey

Sunday 18th - BBQ
Whatever the weather we'll be having a laugh at the BBQ on the sunday...location and time tbc.

Monday 19th - AMF Bowling
Rock and Bowl, the greatest mismatch in history, but it works soooo well. We'll be heading off from the Sal around 8:30pm, pre-meet at clifton at 7pm. Unlimited bowling for only £6, with a bar open till 11:30pm and food served at the alley too!


Tuesday 20th - Laserquestage
We did this a couple of times in the past and thoroughly enjoyed it, so it's back! Pre-meets @ clifton at 6pm and at the Sal at 7pm. You can sign up for this at the wednesday and thursday meet and greets. cost tbc.

Wednesday 21st - Second Meeting
The closing of this years alt. freshers week, lets send it off in style! Remember, just cause alt. freshers week is closing, doesn't mean the debauchery stops. Meeting at the Sal at 5pm upstairs, anouncements at 6ish. (pre-meets at clifton at 4pm)

Welcome! Come one, come all, just make sure you come hard.

As the President of the Rocksoc it is my... pleasure, to welcome you all. For those of you who have been here before you all know what to expect. Those who are new to us, get ready for a year of fun and awesome.

First of all I'd like to direct you to the Forum, accessible via the link to the left. Second only to the Weekly meetings for telling you what's going on, when and where, the forum also provides a great way to contact your fellow members. Feel free to poke the trolls, it's hillarious.

My secretary and office gimp Pirate Tom is about to spout info about our upcoming Alternative Freshers Week, but before I let him at the keys I want to pimp our weekly meeting a bit more. Head upstairs in The Old Salutation Inn on Wednesdays for announcements, and the first opportunities to sign up to our trips and events, as well as excellent alcohol (drink responsibly!). The announcements are at 6pm, but  you should all come early for a laugh.
